Education Operations

The back office for cohorts, enrolments, revenue recognition and subsidy reporting.

Stage v0 · 0 of 4 gates passed

Who it's for

Training providers under a subsidy or compliance regime — Singapore SkillsFuture, Australian FEE-HELP and RTO/CRICOS reporting — who reconcile it in spreadsheets today.

Why we can win it

The compliance reporting that unlocks a government subsidy is the same reporting the back office has to produce. Built once for Square 1's own cohorts, then sold to every provider facing the same regime. The moat is paperwork nobody wants to do.

The internal user

Square 1's own cohorts, enrolments, seat allocation and cohort billing.

Metric, and its counter-metric

Share of Square 1's own enrolment-to-revenue flow running through it without spreadsheets.Manual reconciliations per month. If it rises, stop building features.

The gates

A stage advances when its gate is passed — not when a deadline arrives.

  1. v0

Cohorts, enrolments, seats, instructor scheduling — Square 1's own now

Gate: Our enrolment-to-revenue flow runs through it with no spreadsheet

  2. v1

Revenue recognition across subscription and cohort billing; refunds

Gate: A month closed without a manual reconciliation

  3. v2

Subsidy reconciliation and the regulator's reports, one regime

Gate: An institutional or subsidised payer signs — the same gate as Bootcamps

  4. v3

    A second regime; self-serve onboarding

Gate: Three providers reporting to a regulator through it

What we refuse to build

  • General ledger, payroll, inventory, procurement, manufacturing. The moment it touches core finance it needs auditors and the scope is unbounded.
  • Generic ERP. The best-funded entrants, with $80M between them, chose the layer above the incumbents. Believe them.

Become the design partner

The next gate is a named organisation. If that could be yours, tell us the problem in your own words. A founder replies, personally. Nothing to buy, nothing to sign.

What we’re asking for: One provider reporting to SkillsFuture, FEE-HELP or an RTO regulator who will show us the spreadsheet they dread.
