What is a forward deployed engineer?
An engineer who works inside a customer's organisation to get an AI or software product running for them: finding the problem, building the integration, deploying it and handing it over. The title spread from Palantir to AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
Is there a forward deployed engineer course in India?
It depends on budget and schedule. IIT Delhi's six-month Advanced Certificate in AI Forward Deployed Engineering lists ₹1,65,000 plus 18% GST, and Krish Naik's five-month weekend bootcamp lists ₹10,000 including GST. Square1 Ai's twelve-week Forward Deployed Engineer bootcamp is taught live on weekday evenings and weekend days, from ₹8,799.
What does a forward deployed engineer earn in India?
There is no published salary survey for the title in India yet. The nearest roles: Payscale India's median for a technical consultant is ₹11 lakh a year, for a senior software engineer ₹16.7 lakh and for a solutions architect ₹28.5 lakh.
How is it different from a software engineer?
A software engineer mostly builds the product. A forward deployed engineer builds with the customer: half the job is listening, scoping and explaining, and the code has to run in someone else's systems.
Do I need to be a software engineer first?
It helps. The bootcamp expects you to have written and run code; each project is a real deployment, so the Software Engineering with AI or Claude Code bootcamp is the better start if you are new.
Can I learn forward deployed engineering online in India while working full time?
Yes. The live sessions start at 5:30 PM India time on weekdays, after most office hours, with full-day sessions at weekends, and the work between sessions is graded by Nova, Square1 Ai's AI tutor, whenever you submit it. Plan for about fifteen hours a week across the twelve weeks.
Does the bootcamp guarantee a job?
No. No placement rate is published because the first cohorts have not graduated. You leave with 10 projects, a recorded defence of your work an employer can watch, and a hiring plan worked through with your instructor.
How do I pay from India?
Reserving a seat is free and takes your name, email and country. Nothing is charged until the start date is confirmed and you say yes. Payment is by card in US dollars through a Sri Lankan bank gateway, so the card needs international payments switched on, which most Indian banks let you do in their app.
