Microsoft 365 Copilot training for teams in Australia
Square1 Ai trains small businesses on Microsoft 365 in Australia to use AI well: Word, Outlook, Teams, Copilot Chat and the permissions Copilot reads. Live online on Zoom in your working hours, from A$149 a person for a team of five or more, with every exercise built on the work your team already does and the rules Australian businesses work under.
One published price for every team, no team discount. Plus tax where it applies. Square1 Ai is not a registered training organisation (RTO).
What Copilot does in Microsoft 365, and what staff must know.
The training starts with the jobs the tool does first, inside the rules Australian businesses work under.
Working out the licence bill
Microsoft's Australian page lists the Copilot Business add-on from AU$26.91 per user per month paid yearly (a first-year promo to 31 Dec 2026, normally AU$31.40), or AU$37.68 monthly, excluding GST. The owner has to know it is an add-on: it is sold only to existing Microsoft 365 customers on an eligible Business plan, or bundled as Business Standard or Premium with Copilot.
Drafting in Word and Outlook
Copilot drafts documents, emails and replies inside the Microsoft 365 apps staff already use. Staff need to learn to prompt with the right files, check drafts before sending, and know that Copilot in Teams needs a Teams licence.
Starting with free Copilot Chat
Microsoft says Copilot Chat is included at no additional cost with eligible Microsoft 365 plans, signed in with a work account. Teams can learn safe prompting there before the business pays for full Copilot seats.
Setting rules before rollout
Copilot works on the business's own files and mail, so loose sharing permissions become an exposure risk. The National AI Centre's Guidance for AI Adoption (Oct 2025) asks businesses to name who is accountable, manage risks and keep human control, which in practice means tidying permissions and writing a short staff AI policy first.
The rules your training has to respect
Copilot works on a business's own files and mail, so the Privacy Act's security and use rules (for businesses it covers) and the OAIC's AI guidance apply, with the National AI Centre's Guidance for AI Adoption as the voluntary governance baseline.
- Privacy Act 1988, APP 11 (security of personal information): reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse and unauthorised access, which with Copilot means checking who can see which files and mailboxes before switching it on
- OAIC, Guidance on privacy and the use of commercially available AI products (21 Oct 2024): do due diligence and a privacy impact assessment before adopting an AI product, set controls on what staff enter, and keep human oversight of outputs
- National AI Centre, Guidance for AI Adoption: Foundations (21 Oct 2025): six voluntary practices (decide who is accountable, understand impacts, measure and manage risks, share essential information, test and monitor, maintain human control)

Four ways Australian companies train a team in AI.
Each one fits a different need. Leaders and the wider team often take different routes.
- Route 1
A business-school short course
Fits when a leader wants two days at Melbourne Business School or UNSW AGSM and a name on the certificate.
Watch for A$3,500 a person at MBS and up to A$3,950 at AGSM, one leader at a time, on the school’s dates.
- Route 2
Nationally recognised training from an RTO
Fits when you need an accredited unit or a funded place, for example a TAFE NSW microskill.
Watch for short self-paced modules rarely change how a team works day to day.
- Route 3
Vendor courses for the tools you already use
Fits when your company is standardising on Microsoft 365 Copilot, Google Gemini or AWS and wants people trained on that tool.
Watch for a vendor course teaches the tool, not your workflow; non-technical teams usually need both.
- Route 4
A team trained and measured together (Square1 Ai)
Fits when you want every person placed by a test, taught live, graded on real work and measured again at week 12.
Watch for it takes a few hours a week from each person, and the results depend on them doing the work.
Microsoft 365 Copilot training for teams in Australia: your questions.
How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot training cost for a team in Australia?
Live online courses are A$149 a person for a team of five or more, booked in your working hours. A four-week Sprint that builds one AI workflow with your team is A$4,990, and twelve weeks of Train + build is A$14,900. One published price for every business, plus GST where it applies.
Do we need to buy Copilot for everyone at once?
No. The Copilot Business add-on is priced per user, so a business can start with the staff who write the most. Copilot Chat is included at no extra cost with eligible Microsoft 365 plans, which lets everyone practise before you pay for seats.
Can Copilot see files staff shouldn't?
Copilot works on your business's own Microsoft 365 content, so over-shared folders and mailboxes are the main risk. Tidy sharing settings and decide who is accountable for AI use before rollout; that is also what the OAIC (APP 11) and the National AI Centre's guidance ask for.
Which staff should start first?
Usually the people AI already touches: business owner, office staff and all staff. A two-minute readiness test places every person, so nobody sits a course pitched at someone else's job.
What does a Sprint build for a business adding Copilot?
One workflow your team picks, built with your people inside your own accounts over four weeks: for example a permissions check before Copilot is switched on, prompts for your own templates in Word and Outlook, or a meeting-notes-to-actions workflow in Teams. It ends with a pilot and a 30-question test, and the fee of A$4,990 counts toward Train + build if you continue within 30 days.
Is this nationally recognised training?
No. Square1 Ai is not a registered training organisation (RTO), so its courses do not lead to a nationally recognised qualification and are not eligible for VET funding. Each person keeps a graded record of their work. If your team needs an accredited unit, choose an RTO such as TAFE.
